The municipality is located in a depression dominated by several hills.The land is of mountain range, very rough, within the bulk of the Villuercas. They emphasize the Mountain ranges of Cueva and Goterones and hills of the Backs. It bathes the term the Ibor river, affluent of the Edge, as well as the streams of the Tuales, Madroñal and Torderas and the precipice of Salóbriga.
To the east they appear great extensions of scrub and meadows with cork oaks and oaks, next to repoblaciones of coniferous. Located in one of slopes of the Villuercas and located on the same Ibor river we found the popular architecture in its small villages.

Famous by its cheeses with denomination of origin and its beautiful embroiderings of lagarterana.

Its parochial church is of original construction of century XVI, today totally reconstructed. It is formed by two bodies, ship and head, separated by a covered arc carpanel and by means of flat ceiling, although the apse was come to ruin initially with vault of crucería. It has a tower-bell tower on the feet, being the main entrance, made with arc of average point and archivolts under porch, in one of the lateral ones.
